The Chinese authorities are in the midst of the most serious debt-reduction campaign since the global financial crisis. They have achieved so far some success in the corporate sector or in reducing the risks associated with shadow banking. However, this strategy weighs mainly on the private sector and is not without cost and risk, especially for the growth of the Chinese economy in the medium term.
